Pro Tip- How to Look Younger and Reduce Shine with No Powder

nano

ProTip Mondays: Feeling shiny or looking too much like a disco ball? Apply a little bit of Nanoblur with a sponge on your t zone area to reduce shine.  I love this as a alternative to powder or blotting papers.  Nanoblur can also be used underneath makeup to minimize pores and fine lines, Double Win =)  You can purchase this at Shoppers Drug Mart.  A little bit goes a long way and I love how you can use it before AND  after makeup! Woo hoo!  This is a must have for Brides during the Hot Summer Season.  I recommend everyone carry this in their makeup/touch up bag for those days where you want some extra love 😉

How to hide the Thanksgiving/Holiday pounds with Contouring

contour

We all get those days, weeks and for me months!.  Once Fall/Winter  comes around we are bundled up in our jackets trying to hide our Turkey Dinners  and our delicous Holiday Treats.  One of the must haves in my makeup bag is contour products to make it look like I did not actually put on the “Holiday 10lbs” haha.  Here are my top 3  contour products I’m liking for this Holiday Season.

kevynKevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. I have used this product for years and its once of the best.  It blends ever so smoothly and goes on like a dream.  It love how the colour is not to warm so the ” contour” shadow you are making doesn’t look “orange ” or ” blotchy”.  Use with a sculpting brush and a little goes a long way 🙂

rcma

RCMA.  A professional brand that is Vegan ( woohoo) with amazing products for the professional world.  I have a few of the RCMA cream foundations and I am so happy I tried RCMA.  With their products they are reasonably price and do its job plus more.  When I found out about this Shading wheel I was amazed as its a All in One  product for  just about every skin tone.  No need to buy different products when you can mix your own personal contour! =)

mufe

Makeup Forever. One of the all time favourite Brands.  I love all their products because they are pigmented, durable and best of all easy to access ( Thank you Sephora!)  The Makeup Forever Sculpting Powder is 2 in 1 Highlight and Contour.  It comes in 4 shades ( I love shade # 2).  Use with the Makeup Forever Duo Blush/Contour Brush and Voila! Contour for Days =).

Sam and Vus Vancouver Wedding

SV_Vancouver_Wedding-80

Our feature Wedding today is Sam and Vus Vancouver Wedding.  Both of them currently live in San Francisco but decided to have a wedding in Vancouver (Sams home town).  We got referred to Sam from one of our good friends David Tam who also photographed their wedding. We have worked on several weddings together and David is one of my top Preferred Photographer Vendors <3.  Sam trusted me with her big day as she had no time to do a trial, we did a glamourous look on her with triple layer lashes, a lovely smokey eye and a nude lip.  For her hair we decided on up do incorporating in french braid in the front.  Thank you so much for having us big a part of your big day! We wish Sam and Vu nothing but the best!! =). Here are a few pictures from their photo session in Whyte Cliff Park with David Tam.

Romantic Ballerina Wedding Editorial

Corporate headshots

This was one of my favourite editorial shoots to date.  When I got asked by Daniel Ha of D’Soleil Photography to do the makeup on a Ballerina Bridal Inspired Editorial I was very excited and of course honoured.  Daniel and I have worked together before with CC Roa of Roa Luxury Floral Event Design before on a Tuscany Wedding Theme Shoot so I knew we would have  a great time. We shot this at the Vancouver Club in downtown Vancouver and collaborated with other amazing vendors such as Benefit Cosmetics,  Flip Vision,  Love by Phoebe , Hair by Micah Gibert plus a few more which can be seen in our publication in Praise Wedding.  The models were amazing and they really looked like real life ballerinas!  Here are a few shots from the shoot. Enjoy <3

Featured Wedding of May: Love Boat Fairy Tale

Alicia3

If you have ever heard of the LOVE BOAT then you would know it was actually one of Princess Cruises original cruise ships back in the day. This is where we begin.  I had the pleasure of styling Alicia on her wedding date with her now husband Chris.  They met working on Sapphire Princess a few years back and last month they tied the knot.  As we got to know Alicia we also discovered we had worked on the same ship in 2009 on board the Caribbean Princess ( such a small world).  On Alicias Wedding date, it was a fairy tale made for them.  Their venue was at Steamworks in Gastown which showed off Canada Place ( Vancouvers ship port) and a meet and greet at the “Gassy Jack” whom had discovered Gastown and was from the  Hull which was were Alicia and Chris had lived in the UK. Everything at the wedding was about their journey traveling around the world together while working on cruise ships from different themes at each tables to the “guestbook” which were actually post cards. Everything was perfect and couldn’t be better. As we ( Cathy Lee on Hair)  prepped Alicia and her family for the big day we had the wonderful Sher More Photography take a few behind the scenes for us 🙂 Thank you for having us Alicia and Chris, we wish you both  a lifetime full of happiness and joy =)AliciaAlicia2

Black Eye Liner. Love it or Hate it?

We have all had that one time when we applied “black eye liner” and within 2 hours it was all under neath our eyes, we look in the mirror and we looked like a mixture between a racoon and someone who hadn’t slept for days or both haha.  I have tried many eye liners on the market and some of them have claimes they are are ” water proof, non smudging, non moving etc”. Some of them lived up to their claim, some unfortunately are in the bottom of my makeup drawers collecting dust.  Here are my top 3 liners in all formulas

1) Eye Pencil-There are the pencil formulas and there are the ” kohl” formulas.  I personally think the kohl formulas are better for ” smudging” as they are softer so they are perfect for creating that based for a smokey eye. I love Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes Black Eye liner as its not too soft and not too stick, you can apply this on top, bottom or even in the waterline. Make sure you sharpen it to get a more crisp line

2)Gel Pot- Gel Pot liners can be applied with a angled brush for that “cat eyed” look, dip your brush into the pot, take off the excess and apply it close to your lash line and flick outwards.  With the angles of your brush you can manipulate the product to get the liner as thin or as thick as you want.  Black track has a quick drying time so you may have to move fast, remember practise makes perfect 😉

3)Liquid Eye Liners- I used to hate them as the liner would end up all over my lids and when I would open my eyes it was a HUGE mess, it used to take me 15 mins to just to apply one eye.  I used learnt to love liquid as you dont need a brush or a sharpener. Tip: Just remember to tilt your head  all the way up and look down. This eye liner drys fast so it shouldn’t smudge all over your eye lids =)

Hope this all helped everyones Eye Liner Woes!
