My Top 5 Beauty Products of 2015

wakeup

Its that time of Year again for those yearly Beauty Reviews, I gotta admit I tried so many products this year that my place is a hoarders dream! haha.  If anyone is looking for some beauty products  let me know and I’ll be happy to let you browse and of course take some home! =) My house literally has stuff in every room that Ive been keeping around.

  1. First lets start with Skin Care!,  As you might of read in my previous post a few months ago, I had stopped by Avante Laser in Burnaby in the Summer for a Hydrafacial.  These are like the ” carpet cleaning” for the skin as Sandi says.  I loved it when she did mine and now speaking of which I am overdue for one soon.  If you have a special event wether it be your wedding or a Holiday Party I strongly suggest getting a Hydrafacial done a week before to make sure you are looking on point!

2. My 2nd favourite product of 2015 has to be Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks.  Yes there are so many brands that have “long lasting” lip sticks but Kat Von Ds in my opinion is one of the best.  They are drying, non sticking and lasts all day.  I love my long wearing lipsticks as they are usually very pigmented, lasts all day and require mininum touch ups.  Kat Von D long wear lipsticks also come in many different colours from nude to extremely bold =).  For they price they are a must for all Season Wear

3) Oribe ( Or-Bay, O-Ree-Bay, Orb) Whatever you call it this is the Lexus of the Hair World. A Luxury brand ( hefty price tag but worth it) that delivers amazing results with their products.  I am one of the biggest fans of the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, it gives my hair the Ooomph in a can. Spray at the roots and it gives you the volume and texture you are looking for. There are a few ” volume root” sprays in the market but this one knocks it out of the park by far. A little bit goes a long way too!  I’m addicted to this stuff and this is a must for Boudoir/ Messy Bedroom hair as well;)

4) This year was the Year of Mink Lashes for me, I have always been a false lashes kind of gal but never tried Mink Lashes. There are so many different brand of Mink Lashes however the one I started using on Brides and for personal use  was Merlot Lash Bar.  They are ultra light, super fluffy and so easy to apply.  I love how they have 3 Collections ( just like wine), White, Reds and the Bubbly Collection.  My all time favourite pair has got to be Sweet Red and Pinot Noir although I would love to try the Rose from the Bubbly Collection next time!

5) Lastly my favourite product of 2015 has got to be Deodorant Cream from Living Simple.  At first when I got this I knew it was going to be something I had to get used to. It  is a cream that you  rub under your arms instead of a anti persperiant/ deodorant stick.  A little bit goes along way and it smells oh so  good!.  Forget about the artificial ” Artic Air ” or “Rose Blossom” scents you regular deodorant has, Living Simple has Natural Scents from Essential Oils that make it smell wonderful. I have been a fan of the ” Peppermint Tea Tree Oil” which is one of their best sellers.

Hope that you enjoyed this! Which products were you top 5 this year? did they make this list as well?

Black Eye Liner. Love it or Hate it?

We have all had that one time when we applied “black eye liner” and within 2 hours it was all under neath our eyes, we look in the mirror and we looked like a mixture between a racoon and someone who hadn’t slept for days or both haha.  I have tried many eye liners on the market and some of them have claimes they are are ” water proof, non smudging, non moving etc”. Some of them lived up to their claim, some unfortunately are in the bottom of my makeup drawers collecting dust.  Here are my top 3 liners in all formulas

1) Eye Pencil-There are the pencil formulas and there are the ” kohl” formulas.  I personally think the kohl formulas are better for ” smudging” as they are softer so they are perfect for creating that based for a smokey eye. I love Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes Black Eye liner as its not too soft and not too stick, you can apply this on top, bottom or even in the waterline. Make sure you sharpen it to get a more crisp line

2)Gel Pot- Gel Pot liners can be applied with a angled brush for that “cat eyed” look, dip your brush into the pot, take off the excess and apply it close to your lash line and flick outwards.  With the angles of your brush you can manipulate the product to get the liner as thin or as thick as you want.  Black track has a quick drying time so you may have to move fast, remember practise makes perfect 😉

3)Liquid Eye Liners- I used to hate them as the liner would end up all over my lids and when I would open my eyes it was a HUGE mess, it used to take me 15 mins to just to apply one eye.  I used learnt to love liquid as you dont need a brush or a sharpener. Tip: Just remember to tilt your head  all the way up and look down. This eye liner drys fast so it shouldn’t smudge all over your eye lids =)

Hope this all helped everyones Eye Liner Woes!

Makeup Reviews

Okay I had to admit it but I am a hoarder for makeup, Yup I have a makeup problem! There are so many new products on the market these days and I am usually at Sephora or shopping online for the new latest product. Here are the latest 3 finds I’m loving lately

1) Hourglass Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in “Canvas”- I got recommended this product by a fellow makeup artist here in Vancouver. I was looking for a a nude long lasting lip stick and she recommended me this. Canvas is amazing, its the perfect nude, non drying, non sticky liquid lipstick. Great product for brides on their wedding day!

2)My next purchase was the Viseart Matte Eyeshadow palette.  I was away for a few days in Seattle for a Colour theory class and got recommended this from a well known Makeup Artist.  Viseart Matte Eyeshadow is matte and *drum roll please* does not have fall out!.  After working in the industry for 9+ years I havebeen looking everywhere for eyeshadows that do not fall out all over the cheeks.  What a great palette to great a neutral eye or even a intense smokey eye.

3)Foundations, where do I start.  They range from $10.99 to $120 a bottle.  So many brands out there and its overwhelming trying to see what ” finish” you want from a foundation.  There are also many factors that help us decide which one to purchase.  Oily skin, combination skin, dry, sensitive the list goes on.  I purchased Face Atelier Ultra Foundation and I love it!.  A little goes along way and it is very buildable for the coverage you want to acheive.   A bit on the pricier side however Great Makeup starts with a Great Base!.  Foundation is something worth spending the extra money on
