How to hide the Thanksgiving/Holiday pounds with Contouring

contour

We all get those days, weeks and for me months!.  Once Fall/Winter  comes around we are bundled up in our jackets trying to hide our Turkey Dinners  and our delicous Holiday Treats.  One of the must haves in my makeup bag is contour products to make it look like I did not actually put on the “Holiday 10lbs” haha.  Here are my top 3  contour products I’m liking for this Holiday Season.

kevynKevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. I have used this product for years and its once of the best.  It blends ever so smoothly and goes on like a dream.  It love how the colour is not to warm so the ” contour” shadow you are making doesn’t look “orange ” or ” blotchy”.  Use with a sculpting brush and a little goes a long way :)

rcma

RCMA.  A professional brand that is Vegan ( woohoo) with amazing products for the professional world.  I have a few of the RCMA cream foundations and I am so happy I tried RCMA.  With their products they are reasonably price and do its job plus more.  When I found out about this Shading wheel I was amazed as its a All in One  product for  just about every skin tone.  No need to buy different products when you can mix your own personal contour! =)

mufe

Makeup Forever. One of the all time favourite Brands.  I love all their products because they are pigmented, durable and best of all easy to access ( Thank you Sephora!)  The Makeup Forever Sculpting Powder is 2 in 1 Highlight and Contour.  It comes in 4 shades ( I love shade # 2).  Use with the Makeup Forever Duo Blush/Contour Brush and Voila! Contour for Days =).

Fall into Vampy Lips!

lipstick

September is here and we have no put away the Coral and Bright Pink lipsticks for Dark, Rich Vampy Lipticks.  Dark lipsticks look great on any skin tone and are definitely a walking statement.  Pair them up with a simple eye or make it grungy and edgy with a smokey eye.  There are so many brands out there that make gorgeous lip products and its always so hard choosing which one.  Here are my top 3 Vampy Lip Products. Which ones have you tried and did I miss one you absolutely love?

divas

MAC DIVA is one of my all time favourite deep colours.  On the site it says it is a “Intense Reddish Burgandy” with a matte finish.  This is one of MACs Iconic Red. Definitely a show stopper if you ask me! Wear it on its own or pair it up with a matching lipgloss

tomford

Tom Ford Bruised Plum is a must have staple.  A deep reddened plum with subtle pink, fuschia and ruby micro shimmer.  This luxury lipstick  goes on oh-so- smooth and gives you such a pigmented and opaque application.  This lipstick is definitely worth its price tag.

revlon

A Revlon Cult Classic, “Black Cherry” is one of their most popular shades.  A silky-smooth creamy texture that stays true to its colour and moisturizes your lips at the same time.  I love how Revlon is affordable and can be purchased at the local drug store.  Apply 2 coats for that perfect Fall Vampy Pout

Makeups Latest Trend…Strobing

Forget about all your hundreds of $$$s you spend on contouring products the past year.  This years trend is…the opposite of contouring, its called “strobing” aka ” Highlighting” to the MAX!. Highlighting/Strobing goes on “high points” of your face such as on top of your cheek bones, brow bones, cupids bow and on the center of the forehead.  Applying highlight on these parts of the faces will give you the illusion of a “iridescent glow” and also bring forward the high points of your face.  This is a very good tutorial on where to “strobe” by Nikki.

I have yet to try “strobing” yet  but when I do I will post my Top3 products that I use =). Have you tried the latest trend?

10 Min Smokey Eyes =)

As a makeup artist I always get asked by clients and friends  “How do I do a smokey eye without looking like a panda?”.  The key to a smokey eye is blending and also have the ” darkest” colour near your lash line and blending upwards creating the ” smoke effect”. One of the fastest ways of creative a “smokey eye” is only using 3 products!.  Black eyeliner, a shadows of your choosing ( this will determine your smoke) and mascara.

1) Line your eyes with the black eye liner ( top and bottom), I like to use a waterproof one like Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes to really have it stay there all day

2)Using your brush or your fingers “smudge it” upwards ( this does NOT have to be perfect), just make sure you see no harsh lines and the darkest part is still at the lash line.

3)Apply your smoke colour with a ” blending ” brush, be sure have the gradient from lash line to crease. – Don’t forget about the bottom ( focusing more on inner 2/3 of eye)

4) Apply Mascara and ta da! You are done.

Here are a few other ways of applying a smokey eye.~ Which one is your fave?
