Last month I had the honour of styling Anna for her intimate wedding in Queens Park in New Westminister. Anna and I always had so much fun during our time together. We had custom blended hair extensions for her as she wanted to look like a major bombshell for her big day. I love it when brides requests smokey eyes, big hair and lots of lashes. We also used custom blended lashes on her from Sasha Lashes (double stacked to be exact). Anna looked absolutely stunning on her big day and we were so happy to be a part of it. Katie Lauren Photography did such an amazing job with her photos and we can’t wait to see these ladies in the near future. Congrats to Anna and Teejay and we wish them both all the happiness in the world
September is here and we have no put away the Coral and Bright Pink lipsticks for Dark, Rich Vampy Lipticks. Dark lipsticks look great on any skin tone and are definitely a walking statement. Pair them up with a simple eye or make it grungy and edgy with a smokey eye. There are so many brands out there that make gorgeous lip products and its always so hard choosing which one. Here are my top 3 Vampy Lip Products. Which ones have you tried and did I miss one you absolutely love?
MAC DIVA is one of my all time favourite deep colours. On the site it says it is a “Intense Reddish Burgandy” with a matte finish. This is one of MACs Iconic Red. Definitely a show stopper if you ask me! Wear it on its own or pair it up with a matching lipgloss
Tom Ford Bruised Plum is a must have staple. A deep reddened plum with subtle pink, fuschia and ruby micro shimmer. This luxury lipstick goes on oh-so- smooth and gives you such a pigmented and opaque application. This lipstick is definitely worth its price tag.
A Revlon Cult Classic, “Black Cherry” is one of their most popular shades. A silky-smooth creamy texture that stays true to its colour and moisturizes your lips at the same time. I love how Revlon is affordable and can be purchased at the local drug store. Apply 2 coats for that perfect Fall Vampy Pout
Last month we were very lucky to be the Beauty Team of Elise and Alexs Wedding. It was a wedding held at Granville Island ( very unique and intimate!). We got the the ladies ready at the Granville Island Hotel bright and hotel in the morning while Geoff Lister took some behind the scenes shots. Elise was one of the Dream Brides, super organized and oh-so- down to earth. Not only is she super gorgeous on the outside she is has a heart of Gold. Elise and I had seen each other 2 times prior the wedding for her hair and makeup trials and we always shared great laughs, on the day of her wedding she was so calm and and super excited. We got all the ladies ready in 3.5 hours and they all looked absolutely stunning. The makeup and hair were different amongst each other but still some what uniformed. Thank you for having us be a part of your big day and we wish you and Alex a life time of happiness and joy <3 =)
Our feature Wedding today is Sam and Vus Vancouver Wedding. Both of them currently live in San Francisco but decided to have a wedding in Vancouver (Sams home town). We got referred to Sam from one of our good friends David Tam who also photographed their wedding. We have worked on several weddings together and David is one of my top Preferred Photographer Vendors <3. Sam trusted me with her big day as she had no time to do a trial, we did a glamourous look on her with triple layer lashes, a lovely smokey eye and a nude lip. For her hair we decided on up do incorporating in french braid in the front. Thank you so much for having us big a part of your big day! We wish Sam and Vu nothing but the best!! =). Here are a few pictures from their photo session in Whyte Cliff Park with David Tam.
As mention a few months ago in a previous blog post we visited Avante Laser in Burnaby. We had mentioned Sandi and her staff are amazing and her medi spa carries my favourite skin care line which happens to be ZO *2 thumbs up*. We recently caught up with Sandi again and had one of her signature Hydrafacials. Hydrafacials you may already hear of ( Seen the Kathryn the current “Bachelorette”?, she loves them and she also is a fan of ZO”). Hydrafacials are Sandi calls them is like a “carpet cleaning” for your face. Absolutely amazing!. When I had mine done I felt like I was in Heaven. This treatment is great for sensitive skin ( Brides this is your secret to glowing, radiant skin!), there is no down time and you will feel so refreshed and rejuvenated afterwards. I could not believe how different my face looked! Pores were diminished, fine lines were virtually next to done, blackheads gone!. At the end I even got to see what came out of my skin haha (note to self I need this treatment on a more regular basis haha).
HydraFacial Website says “HydraFacial MD® is a non-invasive, multistep treatment that combines the benefits of next-level hydradermabrasion, a chemical peel, automated painless extractions (no pinching!) and a special delivery of Antioxidants, Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides. It does all of this in one quick treatment that delivers real results without downtime or irritation.”
If you want glowing, healthy looking skin be sure to check out Avante Laser in Burnaby.
This was one of my favourite editorial shoots to date. When I got asked by Daniel Ha of D’Soleil Photography to do the makeup on a Ballerina Bridal Inspired Editorial I was very excited and of course honoured. Daniel and I have worked together before with CC Roa of Roa Luxury Floral Event Design before on a Tuscany Wedding Theme Shoot so I knew we would have a great time. We shot this at the Vancouver Club in downtown Vancouver and collaborated with other amazing vendors such as Benefit Cosmetics, Flip Vision, Love by Phoebe , Hair by Micah Gibert plus a few more which can be seen in our publication in Praise Wedding. The models were amazing and they really looked like real life ballerinas! Here are a few shots from the shoot. Enjoy <3
Its July 1st and its Canada Day. Today we celebrate the 148th Birthday of Canada. There are tons of activities going on around town. From food trucks, celebrations, festivals and of course Fireworks.! One thing we shouldn’t forget about is our Red Lipstick!. Here are my Top 3 LIPSTICKS that are great on all skin tons!
MAC COSMETICS RUBY WOO
STILA COSMETICS LIQUID LIPSTICK IN BESO
MAKEUP FOREVER ARTIST ROUGE IN #41
Forget about all your hundreds of $$$s you spend on contouring products the past year. This years trend is…the opposite of contouring, its called “strobing” aka ” Highlighting” to the MAX!. Highlighting/Strobing goes on “high points” of your face such as on top of your cheek bones, brow bones, cupids bow and on the center of the forehead. Applying highlight on these parts of the faces will give you the illusion of a “iridescent glow” and also bring forward the high points of your face. This is a very good tutorial on where to “strobe” by Nikki.
I have yet to try “strobing” yet but when I do I will post my Top3 products that I use =). Have you tried the latest trend?
A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of getting Mayura ready for her wedding. It was a East meets West kind of wedding. Mayura had the traditional East Indian Sari, glamourous traditional East Indian Makeup with lashes and a red lip. She looked absolutely glowing from head to toe. Her wedding was at Hart House in Burnaby ( very intimate and I will say from past experience the food at Hart House is incredible). The wedding itself was not “big” according to East Indian Weddings, Mayura and her husband wanted to share their special moment with family and close friends. We had the honour of doing Mayura, her mom and her aunts makeup on the day and they were all so wonderful. We wish Mayura and her husband Tim a lifetime full of happiness!
These pictures were taken by the talented Katryna Kwok from ” Sweet Inspirations Photography“. We look forward to working with Katryna again soon!
Its that time again for the Leo Awards =). This year the Leo Awards were held during a 3 day event span. I had the honour of doing Sabrinas makeup for the Leo Awards for 2 dates. We have worked together before for the past few years and its always a blast catching up. Sabrina is the writer for Westender Vancouvers column Reel People. She quite possibly has one of the coolest jobs, interviewing actors, actress, crew that work on local productions =). I love how she has such a passion for the Arts.
For her makeup we did a feline flick with a pair of lashes and she rocked her signature “red lip”. She definitely rocked it at the Leos this year!. Thank you so much for having us doll you up Sabrina and we look forward to seeing you again. Lastly Congratulations to all the Winners and Nominees!
